The numbers of women involved in construction has, historically been limited. It’s a pressing challenge for the sector which requires attention. With improved awareness of this issue, and the importance of equal rights, things are slowly changing.
At Moulton, we’re fully supportive of driving the change to see more women in Construction. One of our subject areas performing particularly well in this regard is our Stonemasonry course.
“It’s so important for us to encourage women to get involved in this exciting sector. This year within Stonemasonry two of our students, Hannah and Chloe have excelled in their course, with Hannah recently achieving Stonemason student of the year by the Worshipful Company of Masons. This is a great achievement and goes to show that the construction industry is a sector which goes out of its way to support the potential of everyone.” Emma Dexter, Lecturer in Stonemasonry.
Stonemasonry Student Hannah Kendall was awarded Student of the Year by Liz Hurst from the Worshipful Company of Masons. Being presented the award by a female representative from the Masons was a wonderful reinforcement of the change happening in this industry. “It’s been a really good year. We have had loads of hands on experience including work experience and our Student Lecturer has been really supportive. We have had a great experience working with her!” Hannah, Stonemasonry Student.
