Guided by our expert tutors and guest lecturers your study will include hands-on experience preparing you for industry.

Guided by our expert lecturers you will learn the principles of building construction. During your attendance on the Level 1 City and Guilds Diploma in Bricklaying, you will undertake two knowledge based ‘core’ units that are common to the range of construction craft provision.

  • Health, safety and welfare in construction
  • Principles of building construction, information and communication

These units provide you with the knowledge to apply your skills safely and to work effectively in construction operations with other trades and professions.

The specialist brickwork units that you will undertake include setting out and carrying out bricklaying, blocklaying and cavity wall activities. Each of these specialist brickwork units will require you to plan, set out and construct brickwork to agreed standards, both for quality and time. You will need to maintain appropriate health and safety standards and work effectively individually and as part of a team.
