As a Horse Management student you will have access to an exciting range of specialist resources at the College.

You will ride in our 60m x 40m indoor riding arena and cross country training paddock, hack around our extensive estate, and have the opportunity to join the Dressage Academy or Show Jumping Academies.

Guided by our specialist staff and expert guest lecturers you’ll learn a detailed understanding of the equine industry and the skills needed to work in it. As part of your course you will undertake commercial experience, where you will learn and develop practical skills that will be vital for your future in equine management.

Guided by our expert lecturers you will advance your knowledge of horse management and competition preparation and care.

Through theoretical and practical learning you will develop knowledge of horse fitness, behaviour and maintenance as well as equine science and health and disease.

You will be required to buy Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for this course. For a full list of equipment required click here.

This is a full time course taking place on three days per week from 9am - 4:30pm. There will be a mix of practical and theoretical work which are split into 1 hour - 1.45 hour lessons.

Vocational and professional qualifications are taught through college based theory and practical lessons with further learning and understanding developed via directed self-study.

Assessment consists of internally set coursework and assignments which are a mixture of theory and practical assessment.

The Level 3 Extended Diploma has two externally assessed exam modules over the two years.

Students either progress onto Higher Education, commonly in the Equine Sector, or they move into a job within the industry in their chosen specialism.

This may be working in a competition yard, rehabilitation yard or an office based equine role or apprenticeship.

Five GCSEs at grade 9-4 (A*-C) including English, maths and science.

Learners applying for this course will be required to take part in a practical assessment and an initial Biology assessment before the start of term.

Please note that for the welfare of our horses there is a 13 stone weight limit for riding.
