This qualification is slightly smaller version of the Extended Diploma in Public Services, and is equivalent to two A-Levels instead of three.

This version of the qualification will allow students to retake their GCSEs in English and/or maths if they have not yet achieved a grade 4 or above.

On this course you will still study a wide range of public services subjects aimed at the uniformed and non-uniformed public services such as the police, fire service and the armed forces.

This course will provide you with extensive practical knowledge of the public services sector and teach you a range of industry skills so you can perform effectively in any public services role.

Students will learn a variety of modules including:

  • Teamwork and leadership
  • Outdoor and adventure activities/expeditions
  • Fitness, citizenship and diversity

Students will focus on improving their practical experience and teamwork by getting involved in activities including rock climbing, kayaking and orienteering.

In addition to this they will gain an improved understanding of the relationship between public services and the law by taking part in college visits to the Houses of Parliament, Bletchley Park and Courts of Law.

You will be required to buy Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for this course. For a full list of equipment required click here.

This is a full time course taking place on three days per week from 9am - 4:30pm. There will be a mix of practical and theoretical work which is split into 1 to 2 hour lessons, and we aim to have at least one offsite trip each month. You will have regular breaks, including lunch.

Assessments for this course include:

  • Practical assessments
  • Externally assessed Exams
  • Written coursework and workbooks
  • Presentations

You could move onto a higher education degree in a related field, or begin your dream career in the public services.

You will need to have four or more GCSEs at grade 4 or above, or a Level 2 Diploma in a related subject.
