If you are passionate about working with horses and wanting to develop your understanding of horse management and care then this is the course for you.

Our Horse Management students have access to an exciting range of specialist resources at the College. They will have access to all of the college horses and will regularly be on the professional equine yard working with other students, commercial staff and lecturers.

The Equine Centre comprises of a 60m x 40m indoor riding arena, large outdoor arena, cross country paddock and off road hacking around the extensive estate.

Students will be guided by our specialist staff in developing theory knowledge and practical skills in key areas of the equine industry.

Furthermore students will get the opportunity to go on trips and have expert guest speakers come and give and insight into the industry.

Through practical and theoretical learning you will develop you understanding of horse care and stable management.

Guided by our expert lecturers you will develop your handling techniques, understanding of behaviour, practical feeding experience, grooming techniques and checking horse health.

You will be required to buy Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for this course. For a full list of equipment required click here.

This is a full time course taking place on three full days per week. There will be a mix of practical and theoretical work which are split into two hour lessons. You will have regular breaks including a lunch break.

Internally set coursework and assignments which are a mixture of theory and practical assessment. The Level 1 qualification has 2 externally assessed modules.

Many students progress to the Level 2 Diploma in Horse Management following the completion of their course.

Alternatively students may wish to go into an apprenticeship in their chosen field following completion of the course.

GCSEs at grade 1-2 (E-G) or equivalent or an Entry Level 3 Diploma in a related subject.
