The course consists of three main sections:
- Common core
- Core pathway
- Occupational specialism
Common core
Covers key elements relevant to many careers working in the land-based sector including health and safety, sustainability, working in the industry, ethics, business equality, communication skills, relationship management, finance and information technology.
Core Pathway
This part of your course will include biosecurity, supply chain understanding and plant/animal biology. This will give you the foundation to then move into your chosen specialism with confidence.
Occupation specialism
This is where you will choose whether to specialise in either Livestock, Crop Production or Land-based engineering.
Livestock - theoretical principles and practices relating to working within the agriculture, environmental and livestock sectors, anatomy and physiology, animal health, nutrition and medicine. You will will also cover business management and how to use data to deliver a successful business model.
Crop Production - working within the crop production, trees and woodland, horticulture and landscaping sectors, principles of plant growth and development, principles and legislation relating to sustainability, plant health, protected and invasive species.
Land-based Engineering - covers related and practical knowledge of the industry including sustainability, biosecurity, supply chain, operating principles and the different types of land-based equipment and machinery
