Through access to the College's extensive animal collection, our courses delve into animal behaviours and biology including evolution, genetics and ecology as well as develop your understanding of animal welfare and ethics in the UK and abroad.
Your learning will be both practical and theoretical as you improve your understanding of animal behaviours and apply the science you learn in the classroom to inform your practice. You'll have the opportunity to get involved in group discussions and debates on the latest research in animal science and conduct your own research to contribute your own insights to industry. Learning will also take place in lectures and seminars- the latter of which we will encourage you to discuss related concepts with your peers.
As part of your course you will have access to 137 different species of animal in our extensive animal collection, comprising domestic and exotic species. You will also have access to our own commercial farm on campus. This gives you the opportunity to study in a wider range of industry related contexts, improving your employability potential for the future.
You will develop knowledge, understanding and expertise in animal science, behaviour, welfare and ethical issues in the UK and internationally.
All students are supported to develop their independent learning skills, with access to guest speakers, seminars, workshops, conferences and field-trips.
