All students at Moulton College have access to high quality and impartial careers advice both during the application process and during their time studying with us.
The Careers Hub is on the first floor of the Learning Hub on main site. The careers team provides impartial advice and guidance in careers information including post 18 options, support with finding employment, apprenticeships and progressing into higher education.
The college is working towards achieving all eight of the Gatsby Benchmarks for further education and has regular contact with The Careers and Enterprise Company through an Enterprise Adviser.

Students considering applying to Moulton College can access impartial advice and guidance at our open events and taster days from both our Student Services Team and our tutors who have extensive industry knowledge and vocational experience.
Each year we produce a prospectus which provides information on career routes and our School/Young Person's Liaison Officers work with local schools to promote college life and opportunities at special assemblies and careers fairs.
Students can also find out lots of information about possible careers linked to our courses on our website, including the demand for these careers within the local community. and informative videos featuring people working in these career areas.
The careers programme for students includes:
- A college ‘induction programme’ highlighting Careers Education, Information Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) opportunities available at the college - the location of the careers hub and an introduction to the careers team.
- Access to 1-2-1 Individual careers guidance interviews with qualified Careers Advisers who can assist and facilitate in identifying skills, strengths and weaknesses, overcoming barriers and achieving career goals and raising aspirations.
- Support in locating and securing employment through job applications, creating or updating CVs and providing coaching for interviews.
- Advice and guidance on higher education and the UCAS application process, including 1:1 support with personal statements.
- Support with the application process for student finance at university.
- Drop-in service for all career related enquiries in the Careers Hub.
- Career related events including an annual careers fair and employability fair.
- Information evenings on post-18 options including higher education and degree apprenticeships.
- Access to a designated Careers Hub providing a focal point for careers support. Resources including books, pamphlets and prospectuses along with access to online resources through MS Teams and access to pathways which supports the latest Labour Market Information (LMI).
- A jobs board in the Learning Hub and on MS Teams highlighting local job and voluntary work opportunities.
- Opportunities to participate in individual school career days, career talks from visiting speakers on a variety of topics and visits to employers and other education training organisations.
- Developing employability skills through your PDT sessions delivered by the Personal Development Tutors for all FE students. These are linked with national awareness weeks including National Careers Week and National Apprenticeship Week. HE students are offered bespoke sessions depending on individual/group need upon request to the careers team.
- Opportunities to gain invaluable work experience linked with study programmes to offer students firsthand experience to develop knowledge and skills for future employment. Work Experience and Placement Officers can help support students in locating and securing placements.
Employer engagement is a key component of curriculum planning and the different curriculum areas host employer forums. All of the courses offered at Moulton College are vocational and provide students with access to industry standard facilities. A wide range of activities are embedded into courses and tutorials to ensure that all students become work-ready. These can include:
- External work experience placements
- In-house work placements in College commercial businesses
- Visiting speakers from industry
- Workplace visits
- Trade show visits
- Entry into regional and national level skills competitions
- Additional industry relevant qualifications
- Volunteer projects in the local community
- Commercial projects with local organisations
- Maths and English qualifications
