Meet Dione, our BSc Applied Animal Studies Alumni, who graduated in 2023.
Dione is passionate about animals, and loved the BSc Applied Animal Studies course at Moulton. She enjoyed how interactive the course was, saying learning was informative but also fun.
She enjoyed the days when they had practical lessons, and for her being able to handle and work with a wide variety of animals was extraordinary. She also enjoyed the different types of lessons and the different teaching methods were the highlight of the course.
Since graduating Dione has started working at a 24 hour Veterinary Hospital as a Veterinary Care Assistant, and would like to progress to Veterinary Nursing in the future.
Studying at Moulton provided her with lots of hands on practical experience with different species that is essential for working in a 24 hour Veterinary Hospital, where a variety of animals are seen, including wildlife.
The course also provided her with practical experience of using laboratory equipment which has enabled her to work within the lab at the vet practice as well. Dione has found that she is using what she learnt on the course every day in her job and has even helped educate others within the practice.
We asked Dione what advice she would give current and prospective students.
My advice would be to get as much experience as possible and to make the most of the practical sessions. I would also suggest making detailed notes from lessons. Especially lessons that may contribute towards your career path. Some of the notes that I have kept from the university lectures have been useful for my job.
