Meet Iona, a driven and passionate animal lover who pursued her dream of working with animals by completing a Level 3 BTEC in Animal Management. With a desire to gain practical experience in the field, Iona found the work experience aspect of the course particularly useful. Using her BTEC qualification, she secured a place at the prestigious RVC to study a BSc in Veterinary Nursing, where she achieved an upper class 2:1.
In addition to her studies, Iona worked as a registered veterinary nurse in multiple practices, completed work experience on a farm, and volunteered with the RSPCA to support her university applications. Her hard work paid off, and she is now a registered veterinary nurse, completing tasks such as monitoring anaesthetics, taking X-rays, administering medications, and liaising with owners. Iona is excited to continue her education and will be completing her Veterinary Medicine and Surgery Degree in September 2023 to achieve her ultimate goal of becoming a veterinarian. Despite the demanding nature of her work, Iona finds her job incredibly rewarding and enjoys the opportunity to learn something new every day while building relationships with clients and their furry friends.
